Facebook asked us to create a large cafe wall mural in their data center in Georgia. The existing art through the building had been based on different movies and TV shows shot in Georgia, the inspiration for the cafe wall mural was the movie Fried Green Tomatoes.
The mural Maria illustrated measures an enormous 18 feet wide by 12 feet tall!
In the movie an elderly woman recalls the events of her sister-in-law who owned the ‘Whistle Stop Cafe’ in the 1920s. In the wall art Maria illustrated the vintage 20s cookware, pots, pans and utensils that would have been used in a cafe of that era, along with vintage signage, bottles, tins and jars.
The mural also includes lots of produce grown in Georgia including spring onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, corn, oranges, apples and pears.
We removed some areas of colour from the mural so the team could colour them with paint pens as a fun interactive activity for the cafe's opening.
